Chief Project
Albanian Exploration Projects: Rubik Gold Project – Northern Albania
The Rubik Gold Project is part of the 140 square kilometer package of Albanian Exploration Projects that Golden Touch acquired from Jab Resources Limited in March. Rubik covers 68 km2, 100 km north of Albania’s capital, Tirana.
Recent channel sampling confirmed that a major regional structural breccia zone on Rubik contains gold, returning values of 6.3 g/t Au and in March 2011, soil sampling defined seven areas of near surface gold mineralization over 10 km of the 20 km breccia zone. Gold mineralization occurs within a broad tectonic shear zone hosted by mafic volcanics and appears to be associated with sulphides.
Golden Touch engaged ALS AMMTEC in July to determine optimal gold recovery techniques at Rubik. Given that mineralization is relatively close to the surface, open pit mining is one technique under consideration. In August, the company announced that preliminary metallurgical test results recovered 94.6% of gold present in two samples to a rougher cell float concentrate, indicating that flotation processing can be used to recover nearly all the gold in Rubik’s Gjazuj area.
Golden Touch began a drill program in March to verify the presence and extent of significant gold grades outlined in a 1980s drill program. Drilling suggests that gold bearing soils extend over a strike length of up to 6 km. Assays from 5 holes defined an area of gold mineralization enveloped by two higher-grade auriferous lenses, over a strike length of approximately 100 m and an average downhole intercept of 28 m at a grade of 1.67 g/t Au. The average gold intercepted at the top and base of the envelope is 4.7 g/t Au over 6.4 m and 2.2 g/t Au over 6.0 m respectively. Mineralization is open along strike and at depth.
As of August 2011, with 21 holes drilled to their targeted depth and 2 more holes to complete, the first phase drilling program at Rubik is nearly finished. Assays for 16 holes are undergoing analysis and their results should be released over the next few months. Golden Touch is planning a second phase drilling program to evaluate an unexplored area east of Gjazuj, where a series of gold anomalies extend for 10 km. More targets will be defined once the company receives the final results of the first program.
Management
Rob Murdoch, BA (Earth Sciences), FAIG, MAusIMM – President, Chairman, & Director
Rob is an Australian based geologist, who has specialized in junior resource company management over the past 42 years. Rob graduated from Macquarie University (Sydney) in 1970, and built a substantial geophysical contracting company working in Australia and South Africa exploring for coal, uranium, gold and iron ore predominantly. Rob was responsible for recommending the early drilling on numerous projects which today are major coal, iron and uranium mines or development projects.
Seeking broader industry experience, Rob sold the geophysics business and from 1980-3 he was the exploration manager for a tin mining company working in Northern Australia. From 1983-7 he was technical director for a gold mining company active in Australia and Thailand. The latter role gave Rob his first experience as a director of a listed public company.
From 1987-93 Rob successfully mined gold in a private syndicate in Australia. In 1993, the mining properties were vested into an ASX listed company, to which Rob consulted in the role of Managing Director from 1994- 2007. During that time Rob gained considerable experience in managing a company with more than 100 staff, active in both the resources and telecommunication industries. For these activities Rob raised around $50 million on the international capital market. A highlight for Rob in recent years was the management of the acquisition, exploration and bankable feasibility study over the world largest undeveloped zinc, lead and silver project, located in Iran.
From 2007-2010 Rob established Jab Resources as a viable exploration company in Albania. In 2011 Jab Resources was merged with TSXV Listed Golden Touch Resources and Rob became the Chairman and President of Golden Touch.Rob’s vision is to establish Golden Touch as a leading mining and exploration company in the Balkans, with special emphasis on developing Albanian Projects.
Ken Chapple, MAusIMM – Director
Ken is a geologist with 39 years of experience, initially as a project geologist with BHP and then as exploration manager for Union Resource (ASX –UCL) during which Ken led the team responsible for the discovery of the world class Mehdiabad Base Metal Deposit in Iran. In 2002 Ken became a director of Gold Aura Limited (ASX – GOA) and was its Managing Director from 2006-9 during which time he was responsible for gold discoveries in PNG and Brazil. Ken is currently an Executive Director of Gold Anomaly which merged with Gold Aura in 2009 and in this role Ken recently successfully commissioned a gold mining operation in Brazil.
